Temporary Nurse Aide Program
Wesley Enhanced Living (WEL) is now hiring Temporary Nurse Aides. Qualified individuals seeking to be hired as a Temporary Nurse Aide will have completed at least one of the following requirements:
- Completion of the 8-hour online training by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) or a comparable program, and successfully passed the 50-question test (correctly answering at least 40 out of 50 questions). Must be able to show evidence of successful completion.
- Nurse Aide trained or in midst of training and have not yet tested. Must provide evidence of Nurse Aide program status.
- Student nurses who are able to provide documentation showing evidence of completion of any nursing school course work.
Candidates will have the opportunity to review and practice each of the following competencies with a Certified WEL Trainer. Candidates will then be assessed for competency of the 21 skills that are listed in the Nurse Aide Program. Skill checklists will be completed by the Certified WEL Trainer and kept at the hiring Community. The skills to be performed are as follows:
- Hand Hygiene (Hand Washing)
- Applies One Knee-High Elastic Stocking
- Assists to Ambulate Using Transfer Belt
- Cleans Upper or Lower Denture
- Counts and Records Radial Pulse
- Counts and Records Respirations
- Donning and Removing PPE (Gown, Gloves and Mask)
- Dresses Client with Affected (weak) Right Arm
- Feeds Client who Cannot Feed Self
- Gives Modified Bed Bath (Face and One Arm, Hand and Underarm)
- Measures and Records Urinary Output
- Measures and Records Weight of Ambulatory Client
- Performs Modified Passive Range of Motion (PROM) for One Knee and One Ankle
- Performs Modified Passive Range of Motion (PROM) for One Shoulder
- Positions on Side
- Provides Catheter Care for Female/Male
- Provides Foot Care on One Foot
- Provides Mouth Care
- Provides Perineal Care (Peri-Care) for Female/Male
- Transfers from Bed to Wheelchair Using Transfer Belt
- Measures and Records Manual Blood Pressure
