A Culture of Kindness
Performing random acts of kindness has been shown to enhance your mood, create social connections, and increase your overall happiness. Think about all the times you were kind to someone in the last week. How many of those instances involved someone you know? How many involved a stranger? Every day, we have the great ability to spread Kindness. Simple gestures, thoughtful words, showing compassion, helping others, these are all simple acts of Kindness that can impact someone’s day in a positive way! World Environment Day
Today is World Environment Day, a day designated by the United Nations as a day to raise awareness around the importance of protecting and improving our environment. First held in the United States in 1974, this campaign has grown to a global platform celebrated in over 100 countries. This year, China is the host country and the theme is Air Pollution. (more…)
Day of Kindness!
Did you know that from this day forward, the 143rd day of the year will be known as #143DayinPA which will be a day when Pennsylvania residents are encouraged to share the acts of kindness and good deeds they do for each other? Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, has declared this day as a day of kindness to honor the late Fred Rogers who we all know from “Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.” Mr. Rogers’ would use the term 143 as his special code for “I love you” and was based on the number of letters in each word. Happy Earth Day!
Wesley Enhanced Living’s Kindness Committee is celebrating Earth Day by handing out flower seed packets to our employees with a reminder to “plant seeds of kindness and watch them grow!” Once planted, these seeds will bloom into flowers that will help pollinators, like bees and butterflies, transfer pollen and seeds from one flower to another, fertilizing plants so they can grow and produce food. Cross-pollination helps at least 30% of the world's crops and 90% of our wild plants to thrive.
